Summary:

Up to 15 teaching/research grants, including up to 10 for the Science and Technology award, and up to 5 for the Social Sciences, Humanities and Education awards.

Program Overview:

The aim of the program is to enhance research efforts in a wide range of disciplines, strengthen lecture quality and diversity and increase academic exchange opportunities between Chilean and U.S. universities.
Academic semesters are from March to July and August to December. Awards are rarely made during the January-February period unless justified by the nature of the project and prearranged with Fulbright Chile. Preference is for candidates with senior status (five years of experience following terminal degree) and graduate level teaching experience. Junior scholars as well as professional candidates with compelling proposals will also be considered.Selections and placements depend on host institutions agreeing to contribute $800 towards the monthly maintenance allowance and a one-time $1,000 stipend for books and materials.Applicants should secure an expression of interest from a Chilean accredited university indicating they will provide the $800 monthly maintenance allowance and the $1,000 stipend for books and materials.Please consult the award description for specific requirements and benefits.The Fulbright Commission in Chile can assist with final confirmation of affiliations. Grant length is flexible within a range of three to five months.Universities Accreditation Status: Universities in Chile must have a minimum of three years accreditation status for being considered as potential host institutions

 

 

Country Benefits:

Base Stipend: USD$2,700 per month.Living Allowance: The monthly maintenance allowance of USD$800 (or equivalent) will be the responsibility of the host institution in Chile. The host institution must also agree to contribute a one-time allowance of USD$1,000 stipend for books and materials.Applicants must secure a letter of financial commitment from their prospective host institution indicating they will provide the USD$800 monthly maintenance allowance and the USD$1,000 stipend for books and materials. The Fulbright Commission will confirm the financial agreement at the time of selections.

Travel Relocation:

Up to USD$2,000 reimbursable international travel for the grantee only.
