Our 2013 U.S. Fulbright Scholar in Chile, an award winning journalist, Jeff Kelly Lowenstein, launched a new e- book in Chicago titled: Meaningful Matters: Reflections on Joy, Loss and Our Changing World. This former president of the Ochberg Society for Trauma Journalism and educator, stamps his thoughts and reflections gathered from his blog posts from the more than 1,100 pieces written between 2008 and 2015. In Santiago, as a Fulbright Scholar, he did research on “The state of investigative reporting in Chile: a comparative perspective” and taught journalism at Universidad Diego Portales.

His friend, Danny Postel, reviewed the book for the Huffington Post: “It is a major accomplishment and a must-read… Written during a highly consequential period in American and world history, the work brings together Kelly Lowenstein’s writings on sources of momentary delight, tributes to deceased loved ones and analysis of the seismic changes gripping our planet. Containing poetry, personal accounts, book reviews and open letters, Meaningful Matters tackles history’s painful legacies and affirms life’s daily gifts. Ultimately, it is a meditation on living with gratitude and joy in a profoundly imperfect world.” Postel also quotes Kelly Lowenstein from having said: “I find myself drawing far more than before on my own experience to understand life’s events, time’s passage and current moments,” and again from his biography as Lowenstein being a ““Believer in living with gratitude and joy.”
